Beginner Qigong
A weekly class that helps you to lower stress, improve overall health & increase longevity
Instructor: Sifu Quincy Cooke
From 1-2PM
Location: Zen Studio
Qigong is a combination of two words, “qi,” which means “subtle breath” or “vital energy,” and “gong,” which translates to “skill cultivated through steady practice.” Together, the words describe an age-old Chinese practice that harnesses the power of breath, movement, and intention setting to create health & balance within the body.
During each class:
- Learn to breathe with purpose
- Effectively listen to your body
- Discover how to feel the qi rise within you.
What to expect: Classes will begin with a brief discussion of the forms/sequences to be worked on that day, followed by the guided movements and ending with meditation. After each session, expect to feel lighter and more energized. Soon, you will want to incorporate qigong into your daily routine.
What participants should bring: Loose, comfortable clothing; athletic shoes (like cross-trainers); optional water bottle and towel.
Event Fee: Suggested Donation of $20 (all donations help support quality low-cost programs such as this at the Bridge)
Drop ins welcome.
Location: In the Zen Studio. Parking is in the first 3 parking areas when you pull off of Main St. The Zen Studio is the building that is next to the 3rd parking area, next to the Talcott Center. Black painted building with a red door.
